So I decided to do some research on my own about freeze bulge’s in chiller tubing. But in order to get real data I decided to make my own samples. I took some pieces of tubing I had lying around and some standard chiller plugs. I filled the tubes about 75% full with water and plugged both ends of the samples. I then placed them in my deep freezer. I had figured there would be some chance the plugs would pop out with some force but figured it would minimal at best. Well, I was wrong....and now I have two nice dents in my deep freezer. This amused me much more than it did my wife, but I now I have three good sample of freeze bulged tubes for my research!
