If you were ever wanting to replace your old tub/shower unit and was wondering if it could be done, the answer is "yes." Our older generation may have trouble stepping in and out of a bath tubs as the years go on. To turn a traditional bath tub into a standing and sitting shower that offers an ease of entrance can be costly. Often, customers must pay to have a custom tile shower installed.
Here is another option which might better suit your budget and tastes. This shower we installed replaced a standard 60-in by 32-in one piece tub/ shower unit. The shower unit is a four piece unit meaning it comes with a base and three wall surround pieces. The 24-in chrome grab bars are factory installed with reinforcement. The shower valve is a Moentrol three function valve, allowing for a separate connection for a handheld sprayer.
The seat is a fold up unit with teak wood seating planks. This allows the bather the option of resting or sitting during his or her shower. The glass doors are Kohler. Without the bulky tub, the bather can enter into and exit the shower without effort.
To finish the job we used water proof PVC trim to conceal the edges where sheet rock had to be removed. This unit can be customized to meet the specific needs you may have. In the end we were able provide our customer with a viable option to transform their tub to a shower which provided safety and style within our customers budget.
