That’s Not Supposed to Look Like That…

This one was impressive! The photo shows a 2-inch irrigation mainline tee that somehow managed to blow apart at the coupling and become severely misaligned.

When a larger mainline fails like this, it can move a surprising amount of water—and quickly turn into a much bigger problem if it isn’t caught and repaired.

Just another reminder that a lot can be happening underground where you can’t see it. If you notice unexplained wet areas, loss of pressure, or unusually high water usage, it may be worth having your system checked.

🔎 Can’t Find Your Irrigation Valves? We Can Help!

Did you know Drip Drop Irrigation provides valve locating services? Using specialized locating equipment and a little persistence, we have a very high success rate finding irrigation valves that have been buried, covered over, or simply lost to time.

The valve in this photo was a little more challenging than most. After some careful searching, we ultimately found it in the middle of the yard, buried under nearly 2 feet of grass and dirt! 😳

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

At Drip Drop Irrigation, we get to meet some pretty great four-legged “supervisors” while working around the Rogue Valley.

And in honor of National Dog Day, we’ve officially restocked our service vehicles with dog treats for all the good boys and girls we meet along the way! 🦴

Whether they’re watching us repair a sprinkler, inspecting our work, or just waiting for a treat, they always make the workday a little better.

Today we’re celebrating all the dogs that make our homes, yards, and lives better.

Some days... it's just all about the big rotors.

There's something satisfying about seeing a row of large rotor sprinklers come to life—each one rotating smoothly, overlapping perfectly, and bringing a dry landscape back to life.

Not every day is spent chasing leaks or troubleshooting problems. Some days we get to step back, watch a system work exactly as it was designed, and appreciate the difference a well-built irrigation system makes.

It's one of the many reasons we love what we do. Helping landscapes stay healthy, conserving water, and leaving every property a little better than we found it.

There's More Underground Than You Think

To most people, an irrigation system is just sprinklers and a controller. But beneath your lawn is a complex network of pipes, valves, fittings, electrical wiring, and drip tubing—all working together to deliver the right amount of water exactly where it's needed.

Every repair requires understanding how that underground "maze" is laid out. A leak in one area may actually be caused by a problem several feet away, and one small change can affect the performance of an entire zone.

That's why proper diagnostics matter just as much as the repair itself. Taking the time to locate the true source of the problem helps prevent repeat issues, saves water, and keeps your landscape looking its best.

A Small Mistake Can Waste a Lot of Water

Recently, we've come across several properties where sprinkler heads had been removed by others—but unfortunately, they weren't removed correctly.

Instead of properly capping or rerouting the line, the system was left leaking underground or spraying water every time that zone ran. In some cases, homeowners had no idea thousands of gallons of water were being wasted.

If you're removing a sprinkler head because of a new landscape bed, patio, or other project, it's important to have the irrigation system modified correctly. A proper repair helps prevent hidden leaks, protects water pressure, and keeps the rest of your system performing as it should.

Water Spraying Out of a Valve Box? That's Not Normal!

If you ever see water bubbling or spraying from your irrigation valve box while a zone is running, it's a sign that something needs attention.

Common causes include:
🔧 A cracked valve or fitting
💧 A leaking manifold connection
🌱 Root damage

🌳 Tree Roots vs. Your Sprinklers 💧

Did you know tree roots are one of the most common causes of irrigation problems?

As roots grow, they can push sprinkler heads out of alignment, crack fittings, pinch underground pipes, or even grow around sprinkler bodies. The result? Dry spots, wasted water, leaks, and higher water bills.
