Hi everyone! I wanted to do a little introduction post since I've realized I haven't done that since I started my business page and have lots of new followers!
My name is Kaila and the owner of Wildwood Blooms. My husband is James and we have 2 little girls who you've probably seen at the Farmers Markets. This is my 4th summer growing to sell cut flowers!
Growing up I always loved flowers. My mom had the best flower beds and I remember even as a little girl I loved playing in the gardens and trying to make little flower bouquets to give away.
For the past 13 years that I've lived in Illinois I've been growing in small flower beds. It all started as a little hobby and something to keep myself busy. I grew the usual easier to grow zinnias, cosmos, and sunflowers but over the past 4 years my garden has quickly expanded!
I typically start the majority of my flowers from seed despite a few new variety of flowers that are a little easier to order as plugs. I love experimenting and adding new flowers to my list every year!
I try to do most of the work myself but I recruit James from time to time to help with some of the heavy lifting or with planting and weeding when it gets out of control 😅
My girls love playing with the extra flowers I have and they have their own little garden they've started and both want to learn to make bouquets to sell themselves one day too 💞
The year my sister and I both had our weddings my mom, sisters and I grew a bunch of our own flowers. I loved making all my own table arrangements even though, I really didn't know what I was doing!
Ever since then I've had the dream of being a "flower farmer". It took me years to finally decide to stop waiting for the perfect time to expand my garden and start growing flowers to sell. Growing flowers makes me really happy and I love seeing how happy my flowers make other people!
I'm really grateful for the support at the Farmers Markets and other events so far and I've loved meeting and talking to all of you!
Thank you to everyone who has followed my page and bought flowers from me 🫶
