🌱 NEW COVER CROP FUNDING AVAILABLE — DEADLINE AUGUST 31!

Pennsylvania farmers may now qualify for $35 per acre through the Farmers for Soil Health program to establish eligible cover crops on up to 2,000 acres annually. The 2026 enrollment deadline is August 31, 2026, and funding is limited—so producers should begin the application process immediately.

Aerial Field Services can help get your cover crop planted by drone—without waiting for harvest.

Our agricultural drone can broadcast approved cover-crop seed directly into standing corn and soybean fields, helping establish the crop earlier while avoiding unnecessary traffic, soil compaction, and damage to the standing crop.

Drone seeding may be an excellent option for:

🌽 Standing corn
🌱 Standing soybeans
🚜 Wet or difficult-to-access fields
⛰️ Steep and irregular terrain
⏰ Farms needing to establish cover before or immediately around harvest

Cover crops can help protect valuable topsoil, improve water infiltration, retain nutrients, suppress weeds, and extend grazing opportunities—while this new program may help offset establishment costs.

Program participants will need USDA farm, tract, and field identification, FSA maps, tax documentation, and other enrollment materials. Acres receiving Farmers for Soil Health payments generally cannot receive another federal incentive payment for the same practice on the same acres, although certain state or privately funded programs may still be compatible.

Don’t wait until the August 31 deadline.

From W**d Control to Yield Protection…

A few weeks ago, many of our drone flights focused on post-emergence herbicide applications, helping fields get off to a clean, healthy start. Now, as corn across Bradford County and the Northern Tier reaches the VT (tassel) to R1 (silking) stage, our focus shifts to the next critical decision:

Is your crop a candidate for a fungicide application?

Recent rainfall, humid conditions, and a forecast that continues to bring scattered showers can increase the risk of foliar diseases, including Gray Leaf Spot, Northern Corn Leaf Blight, and other diseases. While not every field will require treatment, this is the time to scout fields and evaluate disease pressure before the ideal application window closes.

🎯 The VT-R1 growth stage is generally the most effective time to protect the ear leaf, which plays a major role in grain fill and final yield.

🚁 Whether we’re applying herbicides early in the season or fungicides later to protect your investment, our goal remains the same:

ABOUT THE WEATHER! Rainy and Windy weather can make scheduling a challenge, but it doesn’t stop us from getting the job done.

While heavy rain, thunderstorms, and extreme winds can delay applications, our operating window is often much larger than many people realize. We monitor weather conditions daily and take advantage of every safe opportunity to fly.
