Whew! First half of 2026 is a wrap and we’re just coming up for air. Our incredible Abundance team is on a much deserved break and we thought we would take a moment to do a sneak peak of the what we’ve been busy designing and creating this year so far. We’ll post more in detail in the coming weeks but for now enjoy some of the highlights! 💚

🌻This multi-phase front and backyard transformation has been bringing joy to this recent retiree, her neighborhood, and all the bees and butterflies!

💧We built these gorgeous nature-inspired stairs that complements the rain gardens and significant water management solutions we implemented across the front yard that reduced strain on the watershed system and passively waters her new plants. A win-win! Even more planting will be added this fall!

🍁Her backyard includes a new garden, pathway, and woodland native planting. Our goal is always to create a space that nourishes both you and the ecosystem, and this project definitely fulfilled that!

🪨 In spite of a packed install schedule, Daniel and Sebastian managed to fit in several trainings as we continue to expand our skills around dry stacked walls and naturalistic stone work.

💪We immediately put these stonework skills to use! We love dry stack walls for so many reasons, but one of them is that they provide habitat for local birds and wildlife!

🎉 Including in this epic transformation with a new “she-shed” + fire pit area for gathering + tiered garden!

🌱We of course stuck to our roots and built several kitchen gardens that are thriving using all organic practices in their very first season!

💜This was a favorite garden we built in Avondale Estates nestled in what I would consider a botanical garden in its own right - this homeowner has been featured in several magazines for her incredible landscape!

🐾 We also had the honor of building the new Kirkwood Community Garden - Trout 🐾 came for moral support!

👐This was extra special because Kirkwood is one of our “home” neighborhoods as Sarah serves on the business association board and we spend a lot of time in this area!

🦋Another epic front and backyard transformation packed full of all our favorites: nat

And Abundance was born. 💚

Daniel had always imagined using his agro-ecology degree to build foodscapes… but sometimes you just need a little nudge.

When the world shut down — and so did his 9–5, that nudge arrived.

We’ll forever be grateful for those first clients, many of them friends and colleagues, who trusted him with their yards and their snackyard dreams.

What started as a few backyard gardens has grown into hundreds of clients and a full-service landscape design + build firm rooted in ecology, beauty, and connection.

Here’s to the next five years. 🌱 snackyard

Wow, do we feel privileged to work with these guys. We hear it again and again from clients how kind, conscientious, talented, and hard-working our crew is. It’s hard to put into words how much we value them as teammates + friends.

Photo 1 — Last winter, we had the honor of visiting Eduardo and Sebastian in their beautiful home country of Ecuador during their time off. They took us on the trip of a lifetime through the Galápagos, Quito, Baños, and the jungle. An experience we’ll never forget.

Photo 2 — 💪 Our small but mighty install team. Clients are always shocked by what they accomplish in a single day. Their attitudes and craftsmanship set the tone for everything we do.

Photo 3 — Paul, who is having a real Snow White moment here, has been with us for over four years!!With a degree in architecture, he’s now our full-time designer (and resident plant expert), but you’ll still catch him in the field from time to time. If you know him, you know his care for our clients and his eye for detail are unmatched.

Photo 4 — Sebastian, Daniel, Sarah, and Sebastian’s gorgeous wife in Quito. One of the biggest highlights of our trip was meeting their families. They were warm, welcoming, fun, and incredibly patient with our (very) rusty Spanish.

Photo 5 — Sebastian’s daughter joking around with Daniel, proving he is indeed a certified Funkle of the world. 😂

We are endlessly grateful for this team, the true heart of Abundance. None of what we do is possible without them. 💚

This Grant Park landscape transformation was filled with so many sweet moments. We truly had so much fun working with this lovely family.

Despite it being a relatively small, mostly shady yard, we’re really excited about how we were able to create an inviting space that encourages them to connect with both each other and with nature, grow their own food, and support our local ecosystem. Those may seem like competing priorities, but with intentional design you really can have an abundant space that is beautifully inviting AND symbiotic with nature.

And they’re already feeling the impact. During one of my check-ins, they told me how empowered they feel growing their own food and can’t wait to expand — this is WHY we do what we do. I have a feeling there are some fruit trees in their future. 🍑🌿

Huge shoutout to our team for their hard work on this one. We had a few challenges along the way, but they always stay positive and persist. 💚
