Cold temperatures are expected for the rest of this week. Is your hot tub working? If it’s not, make sure you take the proper steps to prevent damage. These tips will help save the hot tub and your bank account.

1. Do NOT drain the hot tub.
This is the worst thing you can do. A large body of water takes much lower temperatures to freeze. If even a small amount of water remains in the plumbing lines, it can still freeze and cause serious damage.

2. If you must drain the hot tub, do this; use a shop vacuum.
Remove the filter and place the hose at the bottom of the hot tub over the suction line. You may need to cover the other suction with your hand, or you’ll get wet.
Make sure the shop vac is set to blow air, not suck water. Blowing air is far more effective because it builds pressure to force water out of the plumbing—through the pump and jets—back into the tub, where it can then be vacuumed out.

3. Vacuum out as much water as possible.
Remove every bit of water you can from the hot tub. Once finished, cover the tub securely with its cover or another protective material to prevent condensation or moisture from re-entering.

4. If you cannot vacuum or blow out the lines:
Go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and purchase:
A 10½-inch, (up to 300-watt) heavy-duty clamp light.
A 60-watt incandescent light bulb
⚠️ Important: LED bulbs will NOT work—they do not produce heat. A 40 to 60-watt incandescent bulb produces enough heat inside the cabinet to help prevent freezing.
Remove the front cabinet panel and position the light inside the equipment area. Make sure the bulb is not touching any part of the hot tub and has at least 6 inches of clearance.
Smaller clamp lights are available if space is limited. Open the cabinet before going to the store to ensure you buy the correct size.

Good Sunday morning! With colder weather approaching, is your hot tub prepared for the chill?

I completed a service yesterday that was beyond my capability to fix on the spot. The hot tub has been sitting for a year and a half, the new owner has been addressing small leaks as he can. He reached out to me about a leak in the pump’s wet end. I’ll need to order just the pump, as the motor appears to be nearly new.

The main purpose of this message is to remind hot tub owners to be proactive. If cold weather is on the way and you're concerned about freeze damage, you should be! If you can't get a technician out quickly, or if you're unable to keep the water moving to prevent freezing, here’s some advice I shared with the customer yesterday:

Take a lamp or light socket with an incandescent light bulb and place it inside the hot tub’s cabinet. Ensure it isn’t a heat lamp or bulb, keep it from touching anything inside the cabinet, then don’t completely replace the panel. Just lean it against the front of the cabinet to retain heat. This will help prevent freezing until you can make the necessary repairs or have a technician come by.

I never thought I would own a retail store, but the twists and turns of life have led me to where I am now: the owner of a couple of companies, all based around the hot tub industry. I've been in the service part of the hot tub industry, delivering and repairing & moving hot tubs, for over 30 years. This year, I opened a retail store in Jasper, Georgia, called trolls hob. In the last couple of years, I realized my life purpose wasn't just to work, earn money to take care of my family & pay bills; it was to provide a service that’s actually beneficial to our health. As I've gotten older, I use hot water soaking every day for building a pain management routine, helping with my mobililty, better sleep, muscle relaxation, stress reduction & other health benefits that soaking in hot water provides. *sales is minimum wage plus commission.
*$17 per hour, with a raise after 30 days for crew positions.

- Repair and maintain swimming pools and hot tubs

Good morning and happy Monday! We’re putting in extra effort today to set a positive tone for the week ahead.

This week is packed with activities, including DCR (drain clean refills), moving hot tubs, delivering new hot tubs, and a trip to the manufacturer to prepare for upcoming home shows. We’ll also be handling a few service calls and more.

If your hot tub needs cleaning or servicing, don’t hesitate to call and schedule an appointment. Hot tub season is just around the corner! We’ve noticed many customers are moving, and remember, we also move pool tables and hot tubs.

With 30 years of experience, I focus on quality rather than being the cheapest option. We don’t chase work; we attract it through referrals and word of mouth.

I am going to be more consistant sharing the work we do each day. This is a unique L shaped swim spa we moved yesterday from Rome GA to Centre Alabama.

When we arrived, the 15 ft. swim spa still had a foot of water in it. The video may seem like we were just walking around, but we actually spent time strapping the hot tub onto the truck while the larger piece was draining so we could load it onto the trailer. I couldn't figure out how to edit that part down. 🤔

Thanks for watching and sharing my videos! Word is getting around again about this amazing team that makes tough jobs look easy. I always say that’s one of the key parts of our work—making it look easy.
