Well, I'd say that definitely needed to be done.

Previous company replaced the sewer line in the yard, but stopped short of the remaining 10ft of old cast iron going into the house. When it started backing up again they told the client "tough luck".

I swear 90% of our clients are people who have been completely screwed over by big corporate service companies. It's a sad state of affairs when plumbing businesses are getting bought up and run by hedge funds that care about nothing but profit over people.

That was fun. Only took 12 hours. Previous person they hired re-piped under the house and brought the new line out on the wrong side of the house. When they got to the sidewalk and the city told them there was no tap there to connect to they abandoned the job and refused to finish. There was a clearly accessible city sewer clean out on the other side of the house indicating an existing tap on that side. Sure enough, after initial camera inspection and then upon excavation we found the tap about 4ft or so down and got the line redirected over to it. (Special thanks to the utilities locator who failed to locate the gas line directly above the tap that by the grace of God we didn't destroy with the excavator).

This client has been living temporarily out of town and has been unable for months to come back home and move into this house due to this issue. She can now come home and have use of her plumbing.

Life lesson: This scenario is an illustration of the vital importance of doing your legwork. You cannot go blindly and half cocked into solving a problem and expect successful results.

Another cast iron repipe for the books. Whomever buys the house will have pipes that drain.
