Anyone else have stacks of pallets you’re trying to get rid of? Maybe these guys will take them!

This 147-foot (45 m) tower was built from roughly 17,000 wooden pallets — and designed to last only until it was set on fire.

The structure was erected at Craigyhill in Larne, Northern Ireland, for the annual Eleventh Night celebrations in July 2021.

Local crews spent weeks stacking thousands of pallets into the tiered structure. On the night of July 11, it was set alight in front of spectators and eventually collapsed as it burned.

Eleventh Night bonfires are traditionally lit ahead of the Twelfth of July commemorations, which mark the 1690 Battle of the Boyne and the victory of William III over James II.

At approximately 147 feet tall, the Craigyhill structure was reported as the tallest bonfire in Northern Ireland that year.

Great job Martin!

The ACCA Board of Directors today announced a leadership transition as the association prepares for its next chapter of industry service and growth. Barton James has concluded his service as Chief Executive Officer, and the Board has named Martin Hoover, 2024-2025 ACCA Chair of the Board of Directors, as Interim CEO.

“The Board is grateful to Barton for his dedicated service and leadership over the years,” said Kurt Hudson, ACCA Board Chair. “This transition is not a reflection of diminished appreciation for his contributions. Rather, it reflects the Board’s responsibility to position ACCA for its next stage of service, growth, and industry impact. We thank him sincerely, wish him continued success, and remain committed to keeping ACCA moving forward in a responsible and professional manner.”

The board is forming a dedicated search committee to begin the national recruitment process and expects to partner with an executive search firm to identify the association’s next permanent leader.

In 1988, MAACA was in the very first Jimmy Carter Work Project held in Atlanta. We did the central heat in seven houses in one day, June of 1988. Corbin, Central, Bartlett and others worked until 2:00 am to get all 7 houses done. Every family should be able to afford a home of their own.
