Lord Aeck Sargent was honored to receive a 2026 South Carolina Historic Preservation Honor Award alongside Harper General Contractors for the Tillman Hall Auditorium at Clemson University.

Completed in 2024, the 14,000-square-foot auditorium renovation preserved the historic character of this Clemson University landmark while introducing updated technology, improved accessibility, and modernized building systems. The Tillman Hall project demonstrates how thoughtful renovation can honor a building’s history while adapting it to meet the needs of continued use.

As part of Lord Aeck Sargent’s 2026 Summer Internship Program, our team partnered with Zoo Atlanta on a 10-week pro bono design project focused on enhancing existing areas and exploring opportunities to improve the visitor experience.

Working across multiple areas of the zoo, our interns developed universal design concepts and architectural improvements tailored to Zoo Atlanta's operational and visitor needs. The experience culminated in a comprehensive final presentation and design deliverables package for the Zoo Atlanta team.

We’re proud of the work they produced and grateful to Zoo Atlanta for partnering with us on a project that encouraged our interns to think creatively, collaborate across disciplines, and apply their design skills in a real-world setting.

The new two-building residence hall marks a significant addition to Georgia Tech’s campus — the first new housing of any kind added since 2005 and the first traditional residence hall built in nearly 50 years.

Designed in collaboration with Mithun, the project brings 862 beds for first-year students to the western edge of campus, along with a range of shared spaces designed to support student life and community.

Recognized with an Excellence in Rehabilitation Award, The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation recently highlighted the Allison Building in Americus, GA.

Lord Aeck Sargent adapted the 1906 historic downtown building for a new mix of uses, with 12 residential units on the upper floors and two commercial spaces at street level. The project introduced new systems and an elevator while retaining significant historic elements, including the building’s load-bearing masonry, timber framing, decorative wood columns, beadboard ceilings, and salvaged wood flooring.

The Georgia Trust’s feature offers a closer look at the project and the role thoughtful rehabilitation can play in bringing historic buildings into continued use.

Lord Aeck Sargent was honored to join Georgia Tech for the ribbon-cutting and naming ceremony of the new Bud and Val Peterson Residence Hall, GT's newest residence hall and the first one built for freshmen students in several decades!

Designed in collaboration with Mithun, this new residence hall provides 862 beds for first-year students, along with collaborative learning areas, community lounges, fitness and recreation spaces, communal kitchens, and other shared spaces. The design brings together student rooms with places to study, gather, and connect throughout the building, creating opportunities for students to engage with one another and campus life, and to build community.

We’re proud to celebrate this milestone with Georgia Tech and our partners, as the Bud and Val Peterson Residence Hall prepares to welcome its first residents this weekend!

Happy 50th anniversary to Chattahoochee Nature Center!

For five decades, the Chattahoochee Nature Center has inspired environmental stewardship through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation, growing from its original 6.7-acre site into a 127-acre campus. Lord Aeck Sargent is grateful to have been part of that journey through campus master planning and the design of the LEED® Gold-certified Discovery Center Museum and Discovery Pavilion—spaces that support the Center's continued growth and mission through sustainable, nature-inspired design.

Congratulations on 50 years of protecting Georgia's natural resources and inspiring generations of environmental advocates. We're proud to celebrate this milestone alongside you and look forward to seeing your impact continue for years to come.
