Tuesday Tips!
Have you had a Wind Mitigation Report submitted to your insurance lately? The uniform mitigation report was updated in April of 2026 with some changes from the old form. One of those changes is what the insurance companies now consider (SWR) which is secondary water resistant. Previously you had to have self adhering bitumen on the entire decking or all of the decking joints taped. They now consider synthetic Underlayment that is installed with the appropriate overlap (which is also Florida building code) a secondary water resistant. This overlap makes it so there are two layers of underlayment on the entire roof. So if you have a new roof and the wind mitigation was submitted on the old form getting this updated could save you more money on your insurance policy!
