The homeowner was originally planning to replace the roof with a similar brown shingle.

After looking at the house and talking through a few options, I suggested going with black instead.

Sometimes a professional opinion from someone who looks at roofs every day can make all the difference. She was thrilled with how it turned out.

A tree came down on a house from the wind.

Got the insurance claim process started and was up on the roof the next morning getting everything checked out and a temporary tarp in place.

⚠️ If your home was impacted by the May 28, 2025 storm, the deadline to file a roof claim with your insurance is May 28, 2026.

I'm scheduling free inspections leading up to the deadline if you want to have it checked.

Even if you're not sure there's damage, it's worth taking a look before the cutoff.

Rain plus freezing temps can be a tough combo for roofs. Make sure your roof valleys and gutters are as clear as possible. Standing water that freezes can damage shingles, flashing, and gutters, and can even push water back under the roof surface. We call these ice dams. Also, whether or not you have gutter guards, leaf debris can cause damming and allow water to back-up under the shingles.
