Advantages of:
“L” Light
“E” Emitting
“D” Diodes

An LED light is the bi-product of electricity jumping between two different alloys. This produces a small amount of light and depending upon the alloys, the color is dictated. LED light is truly a solid state light as there are no gases, no filaments and no moving parts to fatigue.

• The operational life of current LED lamps is 100,000

hours. In contrast the average life of a fluorescent lamp is 25,000 hours.

• The key strength of LED lighting is dramatically reduced power consumption. An LED circuit will approach 90% efficiency. Which means 90% of the electrical energy is converted to light and 10% to heat. Incandescent bulbs are about 20% efficient, with 80% of the electrical energy is lost in the form of heat.

• There are no moving parts or glass to be broken from external shock, impact, or vibration.

• LED’s are ideal for use in applications that are frequent to on-off cycling. Fluorescent lamps burn out quickly when cycled frequently and high intensity discharge (HID) Lamps require a long time before restarting.
• LED’s are environmentally friendly. They are non-toxic and do not contain mercury, unlike fluorescent lamps and are 100% recyclable as they do not contain hazardous substances.

• Fluorescent lamps also emit ultraviolet rays, a form of UV radiation in fluorescent lighting called UVB’s. UVB radiation has been found to be carcinogenic, or cancer causing.

• LED’s do NOT produce any sort of ultraviolet radiation which causes fabric fading, color fading in art, carpeting and other soft goods.

• LED’s produce of the “buzzing” or “flickering” that many people are sensitive to.

• LED’s do not abruptly burn-out .They fail by dimming over a long amount of time before they need to be replaced.

• LED’s virtually eliminate maintenance cost to replace bulbs which can be enormous for traditional incandescent or fluorescent lamps.

I like this article because of this one paragraph that says "LEDs alone won’t solve global warming or global poverty, but they are a step in the right direction for both." A instead of a household bulb using 7 watt replacing a 60 watt incandescent or a 13 watt fluorescent that is quite a difference.

Had a few people request how did you guys make that Santa bag. I made the Santa bag and put all the bows and laid out all the bulb. And behind the scenes Frank wired all the lights to shine through the bag. Had a great time setting up all these LED lights.
