Take From the Poor
Give To the Rich

That is Trump's policy!

Last year, in the fall of 2025 the Democrats did not approve the budget to try and get Trump to extend the subsidies for the ACA and to keep funding for Medicaid so 11 million people in United States would not lose health Care coverage.

Well, it didn't work.

What did work was Trump slash the Federal corporate tax rate permanently from 35 to 21%. Which benefits corporations and wealthy shareholders.

Lowered the top income tax rate from 39.6 to 37% for wealthy individuals in United States.

Lower the threshold for multi-million dollar estate tax.

The money had to come from somewhere to give wealthy Americans tax breaks.

It came from reducing subsidies and access to healthcare by low income American families.

Trump stole from the poor and gave to the rich.

Did you expect anything less?

Councilman District 5?

Or should I say council person district 5.?

Or should I say council woman district 5?

Anyway there will not be a male or female councilman from our neighborhood, representing the voters of our subdivision., Fort St Leon.

For 40 years our district always had representation from our immediate subdivision. Not so anymore. Especially with the last election where the voters put a woman who resides off of woodland highway, to represent our neighborhood.

Due to gerrymandering of our voting district, the lines were redrawn to include the higher class affluent neighborhoods off of woodland highway which were previously included in council district 1.

It appears that Nancy LaHaye, who is connected with the Hero Land company, will challenge the current council person, Pat McCarty to represent us for the next 4 years.

I would advise everyone in council district 5 in Belle Chasse to support Nancy LaHaye, and give her a chance to see what she can do for our immediate neighborhood in Fort St Leon subdivision.

We can't do any worse than what we had for the last 4 years from a no-show council person that totally ignored our neighborhood after being elected.

Apparently the current council person that's spent tons of money to get elected, only to represent the voters as a warm body taking up space in the council chambers, absolutely had no clue how the council worked or how to reach out to the people she represented to take care of their wants and needs.

Council district 5 cannot take another 4 years of none representation council person that we are currently paying with our hard-earned dollars.

A classic case of, without representation....

Hopefully with the new council person in place, the next 4 years will be much more beneficial for the residence of Fort St Leon subdivision off of Barriere Road.

Only time will tell.....

Exxon Rakes in BILLIONS, while Americans Struggle to Make Ends Meet!

How do you spell greed?

EXXON. CHEVRON.

Exxon made $160 million dollars per day while oil prices surge during the second quarter. For a total of $14.5 billion dollars, more than doubling last year's profits.

Chevron, the number two oil company posted a $12.1 billion dollar profit during the same quarter this year. More than quadrupling the $2.5 billion dollars it made during the same time last year.

There never was an oil shortage created by the Trump war in the Middle East. It was only trumped up so that these oil companies could increase the price of gasoline that you and I pay at the pump.

Also the United States sold much of its strategic oil reserve during this period to rake in unprecedented profits, while putting the strategic oil reserve supply of the United States in jeopardy.

The United States produces more oil than it can use every single day. United States is a net exporter of oil and oil products. The US is the leading producer of oil in the whole world. The United States controls the price of oil and what the price of gasoline will be at the pumps.

Free market? Or price fixing by Monopolies? Whatever color you want to paint it, it is wrong and it should never happen again.

This war is just a way to Trump up the price that all Americans must pay at the pumps.

Follow the money......,.

$600 Million Tariff Refund

That's right, Amazon will be giving back to its customers, $600 million in illegally charged tariffs for goods from overseas.

"Because the US SUPREME COURT ruled in February 2026 that certain import levees imposed by President Donald Trump under the international emergency economic Powers act (IEEPA) we're ILLEGAL!"

Amazon is doing the right thing. We hope other companies that passed this ILLEGAL TAX on to the people of the United states, will also reimburse their customers.

Only 40% of the tariffs that were imposed on sales of items marketed through Amazon, will be reimbursed to customers that Amazon has proof of the tax being passed through. The other 60% of sales are through third parties that sell through Amazon, and in all likelihood those companies will not reimburse the customers that bought their products.

Amazon goes on to say that if they cannot verify the exact customer that paid the Tariff, the company will lower its prices in an attempt to provide their customers with compensation from this ridiculous tax that the citizens of the United States had to pay on everyday goods that American purchased.

What a mess. Most Americans that paid this ridiculous tax that was forced on them by a tyrant fascist, will never recoup their losses.

We are so fortunate to have checks and balances in our government that can put the brakes on an out of control president of the United States.

Even though there are many members on the US supreme Court that were appointed by this person, they still ruled in favor of the Constitution of the United States, and the American people!

The US supreme Court continues to put the brakes on this president and his weird sense of administration.

For instance, just recently the supreme Court ruled that Donald j Trump has to pay $5 million to a woman he sexually assaulted. Now, this is the supreme Court there is no court above this, but Trump in his weird sense of administration, wants to make another Court to appeal the US supreme Courts decision to? Or something to that effect?

How can this be?.....

Barriere Road Deteriorating

Barriere Road at the intersection of Delta street is sinking.

A dangerous situation is developing in the northbound lane in the 400 block of Barriere Road.

Attention is needed immediately to fix the holes in the road before someone gets injured.

Since the base has designated Barriere Road as the main entrance, many heavy 18-wheeler trucks routinely used Barriere Road on a daily basis and is damaging our subdivision access road.

Barriere Road was never met to handle the volume of traffic and heavy tonnage vehicles that now travel to Alvin calendar field, damaging the residential artery.

Please take care of the situation immediately and formulate a plan, such as a four-lane highway to be constructed so the residents of Fort St Leon subdivision can access the road easily and safely.

Highest Sales Tax Rates in Region

You just knew it was going to happen.

Plaquemines Parish now has the highest sales tax rate in the region at 10.25%.

Jefferson Parish at 9.75% and Orleans and Saint Bernard at 10%.

The .75% tax increase rate came at the order of the sheriff of Plaquemines Parish Jerry Turlich.

If you recall, last year, at a vote of the people gave the sheriff a .25% sales tax income. With the sheriff being able to raise the sales tax in plaquemines Parish up to 1% for his office at no vote of the people. Well, that's exactly what happened the sheriff wasn't satisfied with the .25% increase last year so he opted it to .75% this year.

How is having the highest tax rate in this area good for business? How is it good for jobs?

Truth is, it's not! And in an advertisement that ran last year in the gazette, it was estimated that every employee of the sheriff's office could get a $30,000 a year raise if the .25% tax rate generated the amount predicted. Apparently it didn't, or maybe it did, or maybe the sheriff just wants more money, but by vote of the people, which mostly stayed home, allows the sheriff now to get his piece of the pie of the sales tax in plaquemines which has raised the rates to some of the highest in the state.

And if I recall, the proposed tax rate increase wasn't strictly dedicated to salaries. It could be used at the will of the sheriff in the sheriff's department. So where is the accountability? Where is our money going? We'd like to see where our tax dollars are going in writing before leveling anymore taxes on the people.

Louisiana medal of Honor Park

It's been 2 years since the medal of Honor Park in Belle Chasse has closed.

Residence that used to use the park on a regular basis are getting pretty antsy about when the park is going to reopen. Especially since they had absolutely zero input on whether they wanted to lose a good bit of the Green space to concrete and steel.

At the current pace of construction, this park may not be open for another 2 years.

A $15 million project that was supposed to be finished in 2 years, is dragging on and on and on. Meanwhile the patrons that used to use the park have had to travel to other parks in Plaquemines Parish or other parishes.

Perhaps the contractor wants the project to last much longer than anticipated so they can ask for more funding?.......

Meanwhile? Who knows when it will be finished?
