Arthur, What A Strange Storm
Tropical storm Arthur made landfall somewhere around Corpus Christi, Texas yesterday.
Arthur, originated in Central America about a week ago. It traveled northwestern into northern Mexico and Southern Texas and is now somewhere around the northern Louisiana, Mississippi border.
Down here in Belle Chasse, the winds are stronger now than they have been at any point during this event. The atmospheric pressure is well below 30 in., and squalls containing high winds are still moving through.
The storm also spawned many tornadoes from Terrebonne Parish all the way to St Tammany Parish.
How can it be, that the center of the storm, located over 400 mi away, over land, is still pulling enough moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to cause high wind damage and torrential rains that are expected all the way to the Carolinas?
Global warming is real!
Just a few years ago, a small tropical storm of this size, with this center displaced hundreds of miles away from the actual effects, causing severe wind damage and flooding events, would have never happened.
Given the current political climate, with the political leaders aligned to dismiss any sort of weather change caused by global warming, these types of events will surely repeat theirselves...........
