I was at a Park in Homewood, up behind Dawson Baptist Church Monday, morning looking at a job to do and I went to see this Pedestrian Bridge that takes you to Homewood Middle School. We Refurbished / Replaced the Entire Floor System a few years ago and had AHR Metals working with us. To see some really cool pictures of an impossible job to do because of Zero Access From Below, go to our website at;

This is a bridge replacement job that we did up in Mount Mitchell, NC. back in March of 2015. We traveled up on a Monday and traveled back on Saturday. We had a very little amount of staging area and the crane was pretty much under a Power Line and we were at the end of a Dead End Road. Way up in the Mountains. It’s jobs like this that make me appreciate the guys at Banner Industrial Construction and make me really enjoy what I get to do for a living. We Replaced this Bridge in less than a week and had NO Room to work with. The Old Bailey Bridge had to be cut out with torches and Removed Sections at a time. And we had to figure out a way to get the New Pioneer Bridge Sections in Place. And we got it done with Zero Issues. Jobs like this is also why I don’t argue with people who choose to say on occasion, that my price is too high. I know what it takes to do this type of work. And let me tell you, this was a very difficult and dangerous job. But we had a plan and we stuck to that plan and everything turned out great. Thank you Lord for keeping us Safe on that jobsite !!!!!

I have told my guys many times over the years that you either believe in Customer Service or you don’t. It’s not something you can fake and get away with. I think these last three days in Dallas, Georgia, Unloading 7 Trucks and Assembling Eight 105’-0 Steel Modules with about 1500 Bolts and leaving the job site all picked up and cleaned up and things put away to the side, show that Banner Industrial Construction still does believe in Customer Service.
We will return to this job site in about 3-4 weeks to Erect all the Steel members of this Bridge.
We are very grateful for the opportunity that
R W S Design Build has given us to Assemble and Erect this Large Vehicular Bridge.
See you guys in 3-4 Weeks to Erect what we have Assembled using a Superior Cranes 550 Ton Crane.

Days like today are why at 66 years old I still love my job. Today was my first day back out in the field, since my 12/29 Surgery. And I really did enjoy being back out there with my 5 guys. This morning we started a new bridge job. It’s a big Contech Vehicular Bridge, for RWS Design / Build, just a bit North of Dallas, Georgia. The Bridge is 50’-0 Wide x 105’-0 Long.
And we had a Superior Cranes 120 Ton Crane to Unload all of our Eight Steel Modules, W21x44 Steel Beam Diaphragms and Metal Decking, and a few Pallets & Crates.
Today, we Unloaded 7 Trucks & Staged the Eight Modules on Wood Cribbing, along with Several Beam Diaphragms. We also have in place over half of our Large Splice Plates.
But we had such a great 8-1/2 hour day today that I took the guys out to eat dinner. ( I actually usually buy their dinner anyway when we are out of town, even though I’ve paid them a Very Nice Daily Per Diem !! 😊😊 )
But it was an enjoyable day. Not too many distractions either.
So Thank You Lord for allowing me to still be able to get back out in the field after my surgery about 4-1/2 months ago. Because I know that I was very, very fortunate.
It felt really good. And Thank You Lord for a Safe Day Today !!!!

I’m in Tifton, Ga. tonight for a meeting in the morning in Waycross, Ga., on a Large Steel Multi Span Girder Bridge Job and I traveled down Highway 280 through Columbus, Ga. and got to go under a Contech Bridge that we did several years ago, and that’s always a Big Thrill for me. We Built it on the side of the road next to the East Bound Lanes and Set It One Night with a Southway Crane & Rigging 800 Ton Crane. It went so good that we only had traffic blocked for about 5 Hours.

This past Thursday morning, we left our Shop in Bessemer, Al. at 7:00 AM CST and drove 500 miles to a Bridge Jobsite in Conway, SC. to drop off our Large Bridge Tool Trailer. About an 8 Hour Drive. We were back on the jobsite Friday morning a little before
7:00 AM EST.
The 210 Ton Hydraulic AT Truck Crane was Set Up and ready to go about 8:15. The Two Contech Bridge Trucks / Meteor Express, met me at the Intersection to turn into the Jobsite at 8:30. We maneuvered them through the Large Park Area, under Construction, and Backed them up to the Crane to Unload one at a time. We had the Two Bridge Sections Unloaded, Properly Set on Wood Cribbing, Spliced Together, Bolts Properly Impacted to Turn of the Nut, Metal Decking Installed at the Splice Joint, and had our Spreader Bar and Rigging Redone to the Proper 1/3 Pick Points, and Lifted the Bridge up Perfectly Level and Swung over the Creek and Properly Located and Set Down on the Two Concrete Abutments at 10:40 AM EST.
Might have been a Gold Medal Morning.
We then began to Drill & Epoxy the 8 Anchor Bolts.
I hit the road and headed back at 12:00 Noon. The guys had the Bridge Secured, the Jobsite Completely Cleaned Up & Picked Up and all of our Tools Loaded in the Trailer and were leaving an hour or so behind me. The 8 hour drive back turned into 10 hours due to traffic through Augusta and East Atlanta. 1100 miles in Two Days.
But a very Good Friday morning if I say so myself. It was my first time back on a Bridge Jobsite since mid November and my surgery on 12/29. Man, it was nice to be back out there with the guys and right in the middle of all of the action. Thank You Lord for allowing me to be well enough to get back out there.
A Big Thanks to a New Customer, King Construction and the opportunity to do that job for you. Jacob, Trae & Roy were great to work with from the very beginning and throughout the entire process.
Thanks to Michael Teslich with Stay Dry Waterproofing for a Great Job with the Helical Anchors & Concrete Abutments.
Thanks to Jim Campbell, Codey & Derek and Contech Engineered Solutions for another great job Engineering & Fabricating the Bridge. Y’all are always a pleasure to work with.
Thanks to Superior Cranes for another great job. Bryan Blackwell, Joe Everette and our Operator Chris did another superb job.
Thanks to Dan & Al with Meteor Express. It’s always great to see y’all pull up on our Bridge jobsites.
And a Huge Shout Out to my Awesome 5 Banner Industrial Construction guys. Y’all are the very best.
And I was thrilled to be back out on the job with you guys.
And finally and Mostly, Thank You Lord for another Safe & Successful Bridge job.
