Trying to decide between cedar vs composite decking for your next project? Both can create a beautiful outdoor space, but they suit different priorities.
Cedar decking offers a warm, natural look and feels great underfoot. It does, however, need regular care. Plan on gentle cleaning, plus periodic sealing or staining to protect it from moisture, sun, and wear. If you enjoy a classic wood appearance and do not mind maintenance, cedar can be a great fit.
Composite decking delivers long-term durability with very little upkeep. It resists rot, insects, and most fading, and you will not need to paint or stain it. Routine rinsing and following the manufacturer’s cleaning guidelines are usually enough. If you want low-maintenance performance and consistent color over time, composite is often the better choice.
