Here's the first in a series of helpful tips that will keep your lawn and garden tip-top. Since we are well into Spring and Summer is just around the corner, we'll start with Summer tips. I will update these every 1-2 weeks. Enjoy!!
Summer
Tip #1: Summer lawn care is more about mowing and watering. Mowing stimulates grass in the same way trimming a garden plant stimulates growth and, of course, water is the key to life! Root systems are generally as deep as the grass is long on average, so keeping a slightly longer grass, say, around 3 inches. When cutting, try to cut no more than 1/3 of the length of the grass at a time. If your lawn has gotten away from you while you’ve been on the lake and is overly long, cut in two passes. If saving time is key, use a mulching mower to cut down on time spent bagging or raking. Mulching also provides your lawn with natural fertilizer.
