Where it all began.
Long before JKC & Sons, Jesse’s family was already working in the trades and building something with their own two hands. The roots of that work go all the way back to the 1930s, when Jesse’s grandfather started his carpeting business. Years later, Jesse’s dad worked alongside him, and the business became Ketchem & Son.
From carpeting to driving semi and hauling for Knife River, Jesse’s family has always known what it means to work hard. Jesse grew up helping his grandpa with carpeting and learning the trade the old-school way — by showing up, putting in the hours, doing quality work, and understanding that a family business takes more than just a name. It takes commitment, skill, and people willing to do the work even when it isn’t easy.
Recently, while going through Jesse’s dad’s old things, we came across the original Ketchem & Son card. Finding it all these years later was one of those moments that made us stop and realize just how deep the roots of this business really go. Seeing that name again made everything feel like it had come full circle.
That same work ethic eventually led Jesse to start JKC Inc., and today that family name continues as JKC & Sons.
This shadow box is more than old cards and memories. It’s a reminder that this business didn’t happen overnight. It started with family, hard work, and tradesmen who kept showing up, kept learning, and kept building something for the next generation.
