The Barren Company

The Barren Company A skateboard company based in Upstate New York Binghamton, New York was once a major manufacturing hub in the Northeast United States.

Throughout the 1900s, the local economy transitioned through several industries, including cigars, shoes, and eventually technology. However, after the fall of the USSR in 1991, the major local technological employer, IBM, began it’s decline, which brought the local economy with it. Since that time, the area has endured multiple natural, economic, and social disasters that have rendered it but a s

hadow of its former self. Abandoned buildings dot the landscape, and we attempt to maintain all that we have left as our infrastructure crumbles beneath us. The Barren Company is the product of this disparity.
