UPDATE

This door has turned out beautiful. From two aging coats of yellowing paint, back to boasting the Lucious and intricate grain this door was built with over 100 years ago.

This process included
- 2 applications of heavy paint thinner, washed with mineral spirits
- Thorough sanding from 80 grit down to 220 grit
- one coat of oil based red oak stain
- two coats of polyurethane with a light sanding between

This project is a testament to the durability and beauty of our old fashioned, overlooked hardware.

Not every part of your home needs a full messy and expensive replacement, sometimes just some care and time spent will give it a whole new feel.
