Asking for you to share and your consideration.
After all the recent storms and damage, it just reiterates to me how abundantly clear it is that infrastructure truly matters. It’s not just about safety in the moment—it’s about long-term economic development and keeping our communities connected. With culverts and bridges washed out and gravel roads eroded, our townships need immediate and long-term support.
That’s why I’ll be voting YES on the renewal and reallocation of the no tax increase sales tax this Tuesday.
Sales tax is one of the fairest ways to fund public needs—rich or poor, renting or owning, whether you live here or are just passing through, everyone contributes. This reallocation takes the same sales tax that helped build the new jail and shifts it toward ongoing upkeep and maintenance of roads, bridges, the sheriff's department, and the jail.
Funds will be used directly for top-priority projects, with the County Commission overseeing and funding them, in addition to the projects the townships themselves take on and fund.
Below is a picture of the resolution the county passed, outlining how the funds will be allocated.
Let’s make sure our communities stay safe, strong, and connected—for today and the future.
