A fireplace can look beautiful on the outside and still be a serious fire hazard on the inside.

We recently completed a fireplace restoration and rebuild project on Long Island that revealed some alarming conditions. The fireplace was less than six years old, yet the original installation had major safety issues hidden behind its finished surfaces.

During the inspection, our team discovered:

- Firebrick installed directly against wood framing

- Improper clearances from combustible materials

- A hearth sitting directly on wood flooring

Emergency generator exhaust systems require more than the right materials. They require planning, coordination, and precise installation.

United Chimney Corporation recently completed an emergency generator exhaust system installation for Verizon in Mineola. The project included a 14-inch UL-103 high-temperature exhaust system, rooftop assembly, silencer installation, expansion joints, multiple offsets, field-fit adjustable sections, high-temperature sealing, and full support systems.

Because the building is located near the Long Island Rail Road, crane coordination and rooftop logistics were a critical part of the job. This was not a simple vertical stack installation. It required careful planning, shop drawings, site review, and field expertise to make sure the final system was built for safety, durability, and long-term performance.
