It feels incredibly wrong, but it is one of the best things you can do for your garden! 🌱✂️

When young tomato, tomatillo, and pepper plants are still small, they will often try to flower and set fruit early. It’s so tempting to leave them, but don’t! If your plant focuses all its energy on growing fruit too soon, it stops putting energy into its root system and structural growth.

How to do it:
🌿 Pinch off any flowers, buds, or tiny fruits that appear while the plants are still in their early growth stages (especially right after transplanting).
🌿 For peppers and tomatillos, let the plant grow to about 18 to 24 inches tall before you let it keep its flowers.
🌿 For tomatoes, it’s best to pinch off the very first cluster or two until the plant is well-established in its final spot.

Say hello to Jamie 👋

Jamie is the owner and founder of Gold Feather Gardens. Jamie’s mission is to cultivate and empower kitchen gardeners. With authenticity, passion and empathy, she aims to create a healthier and more sustainable world, starting in Boise, Idaho. 👩🏼‍🌾🫜

Jamies favorite thing to grow is sugar snap peas because they are sweet, delicate and when cut back, they feed the tomatoes. 🫛

A fun fact about Jamie is that her lucky number is 4 because she was born the 4th day of the 4th month around 4 pm and is the youngest of 4 daughters. ✨

Jamie does it all for Gold Feather being the owner. She does consultations and builds out the ideas behind your dream garden. It’s not too late to get your garden started this summer. Send us a DM for more information. 🪏

Say hi to Noelle 👋

Noelle is going on her second summer with Gold Feather.
Noelle’s background is in teaching making her a great garden coach, especially if you are wondering what to grow in the garden with kids. 📝

Noelle’s favorite thing to grow is zucchini. She loves fresh baked zucchini bread and muffins. 🍞

A fun fact about Noelle is that she recently ran Robie Creek and loved it. 🏃🏻‍♀️

Noelle is one of our garden coaches. If you book a session she may be the one to help you! She also does garden maintenance as well. 🥬
