Our team spent our Q3 Volunteer Day at Windrush Farm last Friday, lending a hand with projects around the property to support the work they do for individuals of all ages and abilities through equine-assisted services.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to work together in a different setting and support an organization making a meaningful impact. Our quarterly volunteer program gives employees several opportunities throughout the year to spend a workday supporting causes that are important to our communities. Thank you to the Windrush team for having us!

This week, DCBA Safety recognized OSHA Safe + Sound Week with a focus on heat stress and the prevention of heat-related illness. With the recent stretch of hot weather, our teams reviewed the warning signs of heat illness, preventative measures, and the importance of looking out for others.

Proactive conversations and continued awareness are critical to preventing heat-related illness and keeping our teams safe in the field.

DCBA is sad to announce the loss of Jean Tochterman, just shy of her 90th birthday. The quintessential townie, Jean's warmth and sharp wit made her an unforgettable presence behind DCBA's welcome desk. She will be sorely missed by DCBA and the Charlestown community.

It's Construction Safety Week! This year's theme, “All in Together,” reinforces three core principles: Recognize, Respond, and Respect. These principles challenge us to take tangible action when conducting high energy, high hazard work to prevent serious injuries and fatalities.

Across our jobsites, our project teams will be participating in daily toolbox talks, a mid-week site stand-down, and an activity challenging individuals to identify why, and who, we work safely for. Though our work to build safely continues year-round, this week reinforces the importance of staying engaged and committed to recognizing risk, responding quickly, and respecting every individual on site.
