Spoke with about a tele he wanted to tune down to C standard without flappy sloppy slap (don’t worry, it’s a technical term we pros use)

So it turns out the set u designed for Josh Smith 13-58 for standard guitar scale is perfectly suited for this purpose considering on a set of 10s your b and g strings are 13 and 17, respectively, it makes sense!

A well balanced string and properly matched set can work wonders.

Out conversation included discussing technique too. Blake Mills plays my 12-54 tuned to D standard. His touch is exquisite, he makes the guitar work for him.

And really that’s another part of the calculus. Good pickups and proper gain in your amp, smooth pots and volume control also play important roles in making your gear work for you

Its the time of year that only comes once a year and its here

I hardly offer sales and I haven’t scheduled any this pre holiday season. Maybe in the new year. But I’m not one to make sales often.

Rather I’ve made it my policy to not raise prices since before Covid. And I haven’t—while tariff and fuel prices and imported metal prices fluctuate and wreak havoc on American manufacturing, I’ve been lucky and work with amazing suppliers of quality metals who specialize in small operations like mine and stuff as crazy ass aerospace and electronic R&D etc

I’m making the best strings I’ve ever made. I’ve invested in material and more importantly my machine which has been rebuilt a couple times in the last two years. But it’s running amazingly well right now —even that has to be custom made for what I’m doing

I don’t care about the commercialism of this year because my commitment to my clients is year round 365247 etc and the such as

Your best bet this season for savings if looking for yourself or a gift is my selection of Propacks that basically offer ≈ 15% discount when buying by the fives. I’ll add one for acoustics this week.

But no, seriously, I love this set that started out as a request. It’s not a true hybrid in the sense of putting two different sets together.

Rather, I reformulated the 4-6 to transition comfortably up in diameter and tension. The trebles are the same as my standard set of 12s.

Had visitors today so had to get with the dramatical lighting. Because we were like shooting. No big deal or whatever. Then like this Grammy winning author dude guy shows up and we’re like heyyy tacos and content next week after our things air. Total industry stuff. So not a big deal or whatever.
