This Earth Day, we’re reminded that the spaces we create can honor the landscapes they come from.

Drawing from Oregon’s landscape, this project weaves story, material, and mission into one continuous experience, where every detail reflects a commitment to protect and sustain what’s around us.

Because good design doesn’t just occupy space. It respects it.

The kitchen at Bonton Mid-Century uses color and form to define the space. Pale blue cabinetry, white tile, and warm wood accents reference the home’s original mid-century character, while rounded edges and curved details carry those forms through the room.

As part of the full renovation, the kitchen was opened to improve daylight and circulation, making it more functional for daily family life. Original design cues were reinterpreted through plywood detailing, curved soffits, and simple material choices that support clarity, durability, and continuity throughout the home.

At the Bonton Mid-Century remodel, preserving and extending the home’s built-in storage was a key part of the design. Original closets, cabinetry, and millwork offered both precedent and direction, and that language was carried into the lower level to create more functional, connected space for the family. The stair was reworked to bring in more light and openness, transforming what was once a separated layout into something more fluid, useful, and livable.

In the primary bath at Bonton Mid-Century, pattern becomes atmosphere. Soft blue and white cement tiles, each slightly askew, create a rhythmic wash across the shower walls, bringing quiet levity to daily routines.

Beneath the rain shower, the tonal floor grid mirrors the wall palette, grounding the space in gentle geometry. Enclosed in glass, the composition transforms into a calm, immersive moment where color, light, and pattern define the room’s identity.

Bonton Midcentury is a full renovation of a 1950’s home near Montana State University, shaped by the decision to preserve rather than rebuild after basement flooding. The design adapts the existing structure for contemporary family life while maintaining its original character.

Removing added partitions restored daylight, improved circulation, and reopened the main living spaces around the kitchen. A softened ceiling edge and subtle curves drawn from the home’s original details guide movement into the central living, dining, and kitchen areas. Blonde maple floors, white oak, soft tile, and pale blue cabinetry define space without closing it off.

This means - we invite thoughtful contribution - we think outside of the box - we create fluidly.

This doesn’t mean - we reinvent for the sake of it - we are never satisfied - we have to love every idea on the table.
