Watch your St. Augustine as the Parrish nights start cooling off. 🍂 Large patch loves it when temps drop and the morning dew hangs around longer. Look for roughly circular yellow or brown patches, and check the base of the blades where you'll find rotted, orange-tinged leaf sheaths that slide right off the runner. Top dressing with sand helps dry out those low wet spots where it takes hold. Read the local guide.

FIELD TIP № 10 — Let the house breathe. 🏡
Pests use anything touching the wall as a bridge. Three fixes, zero chemicals:
✅ Pull mulch back from the foundation: a bare strip gives termites no bridge to the wood
✅ Palm fronds and shrubs off the walls: branches touching the house are a ladder to the roof and screens
✅ Vines off the stucco and screens: they hide gaps and hold moisture after rain
Trim it once, then walk the perimeter. SAVE this for the next yard day. 💾

Before you fire up the grill this weekend, peek underneath. 🕷️

Brown widows love patio furniture and grills around Lakewood Ranch. Look for their egg sacs, little tan spheres covered in spiky points, tucked under chair arms, inside grill handles, and along the underside of tables. Knock those down and you cut the next generation.

NOAA's Atlantic season runs June 1 through November 30. Until then, one lap of the lanai: tip the movable water, latch the trash and grill cover, look at screens and soffits while it's calm.

Brown patch spreading across your St. Augustine? Before you crank up the sprinklers, get down on your knees and part the grass at the edge of the brown.

Chinch bugs cluster where green meets brown, feeding at the blade base. Fungus shows up as round rings with a smoky gray border, usually after a humid stretch. Watering stress folds the blades and holds a footprint when you walk across it.
