Our next big adventure is coming soon! 🐥🐓🍗

Together with 3 other families, we will be raising and processing our own 130 meat chickens! We are tired of yucky, slimy grocery store chicken and are looking for more ways to eat healthier. After much research and planning, our chicks will arrive in 2 weeks, so the men have been busy building brooders and chicken tractors.

We have chosen to go with Freedom Ranger Hatchery and the Color Yield chickens. We wanted a heartier, more naturally grown breed versus the conventional, more chicken house type Cornish cross.

We will share our progress along the way!
Are we professionals? Nope.
Are we going to make mistakes? Yep. 🧑🏻‍🌾🐔🍗

Meet SUGAR BEAR GILMORE!! 🐶
Our original farm dog Penny was my late father in law’s dog that we took after he passed. We’ve grown to love having her fierce protection and constant patrol of the farm. She’s probably 9-10 year old and we thought who better to train up our next protector than Penny herself!
Sugar is the SWEETEST girl so far and is already used to being around chickens and goats. The other girls are warming up to her, but she’s bonded with Hazel the most. We are so excited to watch her grow into her role and our family love on her! 🐶😊🐓🐮
