Raised Planter Transformation – Color, Pollinators & Smart Planting
This backyard planter got a full refresh with fresh soil, fabric, mulch, drip irrigation, and a colorful plant palette designed to fill in and look beautiful over time.
For this project, we added:
✔️ About 5 yards of soil
✔️ W**d barrier fabric
✔️ Mulch to help retain moisture and protect the soil
✔️ Drip irrigation for efficient watering
✔️ A pollinator-friendly plant design
Plant Palette Installed:
Mexican Sage
Mystic Spires Salvia
Pink Lips Salvia
Lantana
Argyranthemum
Daylilies
Lavender
Why this plant combination works:
These plants are a great match because they all prefer sun, good drainage, and moderate-to-low watering once established. By grouping plants with similar water needs, the irrigation can be set more accurately, which helps prevent overwatering, root issues, and uneven plant performance.
This is the kind of planning that helps a landscape look good not just on install day, but months and years down the road.
