Narration is deceptively simple. Every person possesses this inherent skill that is the foundation for knowing. But this method of telling back runs contrary to the way many of us were educated and that leads us to question and doubt whether we are preparing our children to succeed—in their education, in their lives.

All of us have doubts and insecurities. This is why we at A Delectable Education never give up in pouring our time into assisting you to understand how to implement this unique method of education.

Charlotte Mason’s methods are far more simple than many of us believe. If you are struggling with the day-to-day implementation of the Method, going back to the basics and shoring up essentials will take you further than you can imagine.

In order to equip you to be more confident in using the Charlotte Mason Method, we are sharing a short video workshop that explains the most essential aspect of Miss Mason’s methodology. It will give you a thumbnail sketch of how the art of narration increases learning, saves time, and makes it possible to find delight in lessons.

Comment “Simple” and we’ll share the workshop with you today.

We are asked all the time how to recognize living books. I’ve been using the phrase L-I-V-I-N-G for the last decade to help moms gain confidence in choosing living books for themselves.

If you’d like to learn more, comment “Living” and I’ll send you a link to our podcast episode with a much more detailed explanation!

We embark upon the use of map questions in Form 1A (grades 2-3)! Many children - even those who are not yet readers - enjoy using maps to find rivers, mountain ranges, and try out new terms like "cape" or "isthmus".

Map use is one concrete way we can land the plane of Geographic study, even if we are unable to physically visit the places of study. What is most challenging in your home regarding map questions? What is most fun? Comment below!

And if you haven't listened yet, check out our discussion of Geography in Form 1 on Episode 351: https://www.adelectableeducation.com/2026/09/episode-351-Geography-part-3-form-1/

The very first year of lessons, we get to whet our children's appetites for the broader world, to awaken their curiosity for how children in other places live their lives: how they dress, go to school, celebrate, work.

What are some of your child's favorite places to learn more about? Comment below!

There are some lovely reprints of Golden Age Classic living science books! We’ve talked about modern reprints diminishing font size and white space, but some publishers are sticking to the originals which is great news for early readers!

What do Geography lessons look like once formal schooling begins? What in the world are “map questions” and how can my kids answer them if they aren't fluent readers? On today’s podcast we explore the next step in our children's education and how Geography is truly a delightful subject for lower elementary students in years one through three.
