Think "Septic-Safe" Wet Wipes Are Safe? Think Again!
At [mark-the-plumber.com], we recently tackled a massive clog that proves even "septic-safe" wet wipes can wreak havoc on your plumbing—and the city’s system too!
We pulled out enough wet wipes to fill 3 gallons of a 5-gallon bucket from a customer’s line. Then, we ran our camera with a locator and found a shocking 15 feet of wipes piled up—from just before the city-side cleanout all the way to the city main! That’s a serious blockage. The worst part? The bad spot in the pipes was on the city’s side, so we called in the city crew to jet their end and get everything flowing again.
Here’s the truth: wet wipes, even the ones labeled "flushable" or "septic-safe," don’t break down like toilet paper. They can build up in your pipes, cause backups, and even lead to costly repairs—not just for you, but for the entire system. This job was a perfect example of how these wipes can create a nightmare for homeowners and municipalities alike.
Our advice? Never flush wet wipes—ever. Toss them in the trash instead to protect your plumbing and avoid expensive headaches.
