California's ADU legislation has shifted the conditions for Los Angeles homeowners significantly.
AB 976 permanently removed owner-occupancy requirements, opening ADU development to a broader range of property owners across LA County.
AB 1332 requires cities to offer pre-approved ADU plans, and SB 543 improved permitting timelines. Pre-approved Build-Ready plans may move from selection to approval in 30 to 60 days.

New ADUs are also exempt from LA's Rent Stabilization Ordinance for 30 years, a material advantage for homeowners in the Westside, San Gabriel Valley and San Fernando Valley.
