STORM DAMAGE ELECTRICAL SERVICE – RAPID RESPONSE

Hey everyone, I’m Joel Davis, owner of J. Davis Electric.

We’re currently servicing Upper Arlington, Hilliard, the south side of Columbus, Groveport, and surrounding Columbus-area communities impacted by the recent storms.

We’ve already completed 6–7 storm-related electrical service repairs and will continue working through the weekend to help homeowners get their power restored as quickly as possible.

Grandview Heights Basement Project – Finished & Dialed In

Just wrapped up this basement in Grandview Heights and it came out clean. We installed recessed shelf lighting to really highlight the space, paired with a dimmer so you can control the vibe exactly how you want it — from bright and functional to low and ambient.

This one’s a perfect example of how working closely with the contractor makes all the difference. Attention to detail, communication, and getting it right the first time.

Ostrander Garage Addition ⚡️

Late night getting it done out in Ostrander, Ohio.
Installed a new subpanel in the garage to properly feed all circuits and keep everything clean, safe, and up to code.

From rough-in to final, it’s all about doing it right the first time. Another solid step toward getting this addition powered up and ready to go.

Rough-in is complete and ready for inspection. This project includes a full media wall setup with HDMI and Cat6, recessed lighting throughout, and a bathroom rough-in.

⚡️ Project Spotlight – Canal Wi******er ⚡️

Last week, we were called out to a home in Canal Wi******er where the existing 200-amp meter base was failing—pulling away from the siding with rotted plywood backing behind it. A serious safety concern that needed immediate attention.

Our team handled the project from start to finish, including full coordination with the utility company and inspections to keep everything moving efficiently.

Scope of work included:
✔️ Coordinated with utility for same-day disconnect and reconnect
✔️ Replaced failing 200-amp meter base
✔️ Installed new SEU cable back to the panel due to cracked and deteriorated existing conductors
✔️ Installed (2) new ground rods for proper grounding
✔️ Added intersystem bonding bridge for communication systems
✔️ Installed 3/4” PVC board backing and sealed it to prevent future deterioration
✔️ Completed required inspections and utility reconnection

We got everything repaired, inspected, and power restored—all in the same day.

Another safe installation, another happy customer, and another ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review.

⚡️ Project Spotlight – South Columbus ⚡️

We recently responded to a service call in South Columbus where the homeowner was experiencing power loss on one phase. After diagnosing the issue, we determined a meter replacement and service relocation was needed to restore safe and reliable power.

The homeowner had previously been told by two other electrical contractors that a full panel replacement was required. After a thorough evaluation, we were able to safely keep the existing panel, saving them unnecessary cost while still bringing everything up to code.

Due to clearance issues per NEC requirements, the existing service location was blocked by the AC unit and did not meet the required 3-foot working clearance. We addressed this by properly relocating the service to a compliant and accessible location.

Our team completed the following:
✔️ Replaced and relocated the faulty meter/service setup
✔️ Installed new SER cable from the panel to the new meter/disconnect location
✔️ Kept the existing interior panel (cost-saving for the homeowner)
✔️ Properly separated grounds and neutrals
✔️ Installed updated grounding system to ensure the home is safe and compliant

Best part — we had everything diagnosed, repaired, and back up and running the same day.

Here’s a panel relocation we completed as part of this project.

We re-fed the existing panel, added new circuits for the addition, and installed a subpanel in the garage to efficiently pick up circuits on that side of the home. The garage area was also re-fed to ensure everything was properly distributed and up to code.

We were also able to help the builder avoid the cost of installing a temporary service by coordinating directly with the utility—saving money without sacrificing quality.
