Devotion Sunday: TGP Edition 💐🐸👩🏽🌾
Or should I say… BEACH EDITION! 🤠🌊☀️
Y’all, it amazes people that I can actually sit still for once. 😂
It amazes me too really …
I can sit for HOURS at the beach, read, relax, and just be. But in my everyday life? I’m ALWAYS doing something. Running around, checking things off my list, working on this dream God gave me, or diving headfirst into the next adventure He’s placed in front of me. If I’m not at the eye doctor, I’m probably working on something else. 😭😂
honestly? I LOVE being busy. I love serving, creating, hosting, giving back, and being involved in the community that has my hart( 😉). 💐
But after my incident in June, I promised myself I would slow down.
And y’all… I haven’t exactly been great at keeping that promise. 🫠😂
But as my season at The Glimmer Patch comes to an end, I’m being reminded of something that I think a lot of us need to hear:
REST IS NECESSARY..
hear me?
REST IS A MUST
Not just when we’re exhausted.
Not just when our bodies force us to stop.
Not just when we’ve checked everything off our to-do lists.
let’s be honest with ourselves … some of us will ALWAYS find something else to do!( guilty - me)
Rest doesn’t mean you’re lazy. It doesn’t mean you’re slacking, unproductive, or somehow falling behind. It doesn’t mean you’ve lost your passion or that you aren’t grateful for what God has given you.
Sometimes , resting is part of being a good steward of what He’s entrusted to you. ❤️
Even Jesus rested.
HE SURE DIDDDD. Can ya belive it?!!
In Mark 6:31, Jesus told His disciples:
“Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while.” — Mark 6:31 (KJV)
Think about that for a minute.
Jesus recognized the need to step away from the crowds, the work, and the demands of the day.
If Jesus made room for rest, why do we feel guilty for doing the same?
We talk about being the salt and light of the world, but how can we continue pouring into others if we never allow ourselves to be poured into?
How can we keep sprinkling glimmers of love into the world if we never take a moment to let God replenish our own hearts? ✨💐
Even flowers need seasons of rest before they bloom again. 🌷
And maybe that’s where some of us are right now. Or most of us even. That’s okay. Remember.
Maybe you’re in a season of doing, building, serving, and growing. Or maybe God is inviting you into a season of slowing down, being still, and trusting Him with what you cannot accomplish today.
Neither season makes you more or less worthy.
Your worth isn’t measured by how much you get done in a day.
You don’t have to earn your rest.
You don’t have to apologize for taking a breath.
And you don’t have to keep running just because the world around you refuses to slow down.
Sometimes, the most faithful thing you can do is sit at the beach, watch the waves, open your Bible, and simply BE. 🌊🤍
So, as I soak up this beach edition of rest, I’m reminding myself that I don’t have to carry every responsibility, chase every opportunity, or fill every single moment with something productive.
God is still working even when I’m resting.
The Glimmer Patch will still be here. The dreams He placed in my heart will still be here. And the opportunities meant for me won’t require me to destroy myself trying to get to them.
Be still and know. 🤍
This week, I challenge you to give yourself permission to rest without guilt. Spend time with God. Put the phone down. Sit outside. Read a book. Take a walk. Whatever rest looks like for you, make room for it.
You were never meant to run on empty all the time.
Go be the salt and light, friends. Go sprinkle those glimmers of love. But remember to let God take care of the Glimmer in YOU, too. ✨
With love from the beach,
Your Glimmer Gal 💐🐸🌊
P.S. When was the last time you truly rested without feeling guilty about it? 👀
