Two mature nandinas got moved today, just a few feet from their original spot. A super common mistake in landscaping is planting things too close together. Then in no time you're ripping out nice mature plants or have to move them. As much as this is a priority for me to accurately space plants, sometimes they still surprise me with their growth. I didn't plant these nandinas originally, but was happy to give everyone some space. Got finished just before dark.

Had the pleasure of helping out this old J*panese Maple today. It's a special tree for the customer and unfortunately had gotten borers, like most J*p Maples do. So I cut out all the dead and dying chunks then treated with a systemic drench. The systemic gets absorbed by the tree's roots and then gets transported throughout the whole tree, where it can kill any borers that try to snack. It looks a bit quirky now (which we both didn't mind), but it should start to fill in as it heals.

The weather allowed for a little work this week! Transplanted two muscadine grapes the other day and did some spring mulchin' today. And check out these awesome Euphorbia! I love this plant. A super colorful perennial that is evergreen and deer resistant. It is drought resistant and this variety can perform in partial shade. What more can you ask for? So pretty.

I make this same post each year on these same exact plants. But they are so amazing! Hellebores bloom when most of us are dreaming of sunnier, warmer days. They are evergreen, they enjoy shady areas, and are a bit toxic, which make them great in high traffic deer areas because the deer (should) avoid them. I just love 'em.
