Here’s the full story behind one of our most memorable reclaimed timber projects.
A 150-year-old white oak gunstock barn frame from Indiana now stands again near Moab, Utah. We took it down, restored the timbers, repaired the joinery, and raised it at Canyonlands Ranch.
Along with the barn, there were two other log cabins on the property we had a hand in building. One was a historic on-site restoration. The other was hand crafted from timber we reclaimed from a different barn in the Midwest.
Gunstock posts like these are rare. Over the years viewing hundreds of barns across the country and taking down more than 50 historic structures, we’ve only seen these gunstock frames a couple of times.
We didn’t cut these trees or hand hew these timbers. We just picked up where the American pioneers left off.
We hope you enjoy this full story!
