A lot of people don’t realize this, but the tools used during a paint job make a huge difference in the final result.

When I paint decks, siding, or interiors at Nick’s Homes & Remodeling, I almost always use lamb’s wool roller sleeves instead of cheap synthetic rollers.

Here’s why:

🔥🔥 Final Update – Indoors/Outdoors Fireplace Build 🔥🔥

Tonight we lit the first of 30 curing fires, and seeing that flame come to life for the first time was something special. 30° outside, hot spiced apple cider in hand, a family gathering and a fire rolling inside a monster fireplace we built from the ground up — moments like this don’t get old.

This fire box is massive, built to safely handle a full 6-foot log, and the chimney is just as oversized, engineered for strong draft and long-term performance. The stucco-colored finish is complete, and from here the homeowner will be finishing the decorative stone work to put his personal touch on it.

On a personal note — as a retired, combat-wounded veteran, coming home you often only see a country torn apart by politics and hatred. But during this build, it’s been incredible to watch this family gather around every day full of conversation, laughter, and plans for the future. Jobs like this truly restore your faith in humanity. Working for a family chasing the American Dream is a powerful reminder of why I endured the things I did so others could live this kind of life. Most jobs we bid because we need the work. This job was bid because we wanted to perform the job and to be a part of this experience. Because sometimes we need a fire built inside of our hearts as well as the fireplace.

Grateful for this family, this project, and the opportunity to build something that will last for generations.
