1 YEAR.
It took 1 year for us to buy this house. When you want something bad enough, it is worth the wait. There were probate issues that had to be resolved. But, the sellers knew we were ready to close when they were. This home had been abandoned for many years. But, one thing was apparent when we walked in . . . the past owners had loved living there.
We loved this house from the moment we drove by. It’s not very often you find a home with a flat roof in Grayson County. Mid-century modern and contemporary homes are the kinds of homes Benny and I drool over.
We bought this to be a rental property, but I can honestly see ourselves retiring in this 2 bedroom/1 bathroom home. It’s on a double lot next to a small creek with a huge backyard perfect for a lap pool.
This was the first time we worked with my uncle’s brother, Mike Tucker, with CNC Wood Designs, and he knocked it out of the park on the flat panel cabinetry. He created a cool coffee bar area for us, and the drawers and inserts he builds are next level. He is already working on our next project. If you are in need of kitchen cabinets, then look no further!
Our HVAC technician, Eder Hernandez, is worth his weight in gold. He is in and out in a day every single time.
Our carpenter and tile crew led by Luis Hernandez and his father are like family to us, and they never cease to amaze us with their talents. They even created a hidden door for me to the laundry room and one from the carport.
We leased this home a month before it was ever complete. We never marketed it. We had overflow renters from our house on Loy Drive, and the perfect person is in this home. I took a risk with the Avocado green cabinets in the bathroom because I wanted a retro ‘’60’s feel’’, and she loves them.
Benny had a genius idea of adding warmth to the exterior with the wood-slat soffits, which became one of the defining elements of the home's mid-century modern character.
I don’t say how grateful I am often enough to the highly skilled contractors who work with us on our remodels. You are the reason we continue to do what we do, and we couldn’t bring these projects to life without your talent, dedication, and hard work. Thank you!
