WHAT’S UNDER YOUR DECK?

When most homeowners think about a new deck, they naturally think about the part they'll see the decking, railing, stairs and finished appearance.

But a deck is only as good as the structure supporting it.

These photos are from one of our actual projects during construction. Before the finished materials cover everything up, there is a lot happening underneath posts, beams, joists, structural connections, bracing and protection in areas that will eventually be difficult or impossible to see.

That's why we pay just as much attention to what goes under the deck as we do to what goes on top of it.

Over the next several weeks, we're going to show you some of these components up close and explain why they matter when you're investing in a new deck.

A little throwback to a project we don’t get to share very often — a custom garage!

We completed this two-car garage a few years ago, along with the covered breezeway connecting it to the home, and it’s still one of those projects we love looking back on.

Another deck wrapped up!

Sometimes a project doesn’t need a long story — just a fresh new space ready to be enjoyed.

New composite decking, crisp white railings and trim, and a completely updated staircase gave this deck a clean, finished look from top to bottom.

We especially love how the white finishes look against the warm decking. Simple, classic, and built to last.

No Project Is Too Small When It Makes a Big Difference.

Not every project is a large deck or a major renovation—sometimes it's about creating a safe, functional space for a family to enjoy every day.

For this sweet family, we built a 6' x 7' composite landing with stairs, giving their little ones a safe and easy way to get from the house to the backyard.

We finished the project with:

✔️ White railing with black balusters for a clean, modern look
✔️ Careful attention to every detail—from framing to the finishing touches

And here's something that often gets overlooked...

Whenever we excavate for a project, we straw and reseed the disturbed areas before we leave. It's a small step that helps prevent muddy conditions, promotes new grass growth, and leaves your property looking as good as possible while the yard recovers.

Before & After: Custom Shed Addition

A comment from one of our past customers reminded us of this project, and it was too good not to share!

The homeowner already had an existing shed but needed additional space. We constructed a 14' x 16' reverse-gable shed addition, carefully tying it into the existing structure to create one larger, functional building.

The finished addition includes a wide access opening, matching siding, roofing, trim, windows, gutters, and a concrete floor. We love how seamlessly the new structure blends with the original shed!
