At A-Con, we take great pride in being a small, family-owned business. Before becoming a business owner, Derrick spent many years in the construction industry working for a large commercial contractor, gaining valuable experience on a wide variety of projects.
Some of the projects he is most proud of are historical renovations, which remain among his favorite types of work. Over the years, he had the opportunity to contribute to iconic Charleston landmarks including the Dock Street Theatre, Charleston City Hall, and the historic Old Public Works Building, among others.
It’s especially rewarding to know that he played a role in preserving some of America’s oldest and most treasured buildings. Those experiences helped shape the craftsmanship, attention to detail, and respect for quality that A-Con brings to every project today
Fun Fact: Next time you’re in Charleston City Hall, take a look at the canvas photos displayed on the ground floor from the renovation project that Derrick was apart of around 20 years ago! You might just spot Derrick in one of them! It’s pretty neat knowing he helped restore a piece of Charleston history and is forever captured as part of that story.
