Here are the little things I delight in during my work day: 1. My morning tradition of ☕, 2. Capturing the memories of working with our kiddos, while doing what we love to do, and 3. Working with the best customers! That last one’s my favorite… because it involves YOU! What’s something you love about your days?

If you feel like you’re not moving fast enough, remember this: Just as a seed doesn’t turn into a tree the day after it’s planted, neither do your dreams and goals for your landscape. Nothing can compare to the love of a pet. My favorite rooster, Burnout, might get me tangled up in my own steps, because he's ALWAYS that close by. But there’s nothing better than him greeting me every chance he can, with a big hop on my lap and the loudest, longest crows ever.

He's been around since he was two days old and will be 6 years old this year! He's a Rhodebar rooster. His breed originates from a Rhode Island red hen and a Golden Brussbar rooster. Out of all the chickens we have, he is by far the friendliest, and most loving. He really thinks he's one of our children! 😜 Aren’t animals just the BEST?

P.S.- Burnout LOVES photoshoots too!

Bermuda grass is a popular choice for many homeowners due to its low growing habit and its ability to withstand heat and drought. This grass is also very tolerant of high traffic areas, making it a good choice for families with kids or pets. One of the best things about Bermuda grass is that it comes back every year, so you don't have to worry about replanting it every spring.

Bermuda grass grows in full sun and can reach heights of up to 2 feet. This warm season grass spreads quickly and can be invasive, so it is important to control its growth. One way to do this is to mow it regularly, to prevent it from spreading into other areas of your yard. During late spring and throughout the summer, it may be necessary to mow Bermuda lawns weekly.

Bermuda grass is a versatile grass that can be used for lawns, golf courses, parks, and more. Most newer homes have Bermuda sod or seed on all or majority of the property. Sometimes builders will do full Bermuda lawns. In some cases the front yard will be Bermuda and the back will be another type of grass, usually tall fescue.

True or false: You cannot plant/grow grass successfully in the summer.

If you're looking to plant grass seed in the summer, you need to select a warm season grass seed. Warm season grasses are planted late spring to early summer.

My top three choices for warm season grasses are Bermuda, Zoysia and Centipede.

All of the grass types mentioned are tolerant to heat, but they have different textures and maintenance requirements.

Bermuda grass is a popular choice for golf courses and has a high tolerance for wear and tear. It also has a very fine texture and forms a dense mat.

Zoysia grass is another good option for high traffic areas. It has a coarser texture than Bermuda grass, but it is still quite soft. Zoysia grass also has a high tolerance for shade.

Centipede grass is a good choice for those who are looking for a low-maintenance option. It is not as tolerant of heat or shade as the other two options, but it does not require as much water or fertilizer.

All three of these options will grow well in high temperatures, so it is really up to the individual to decide which one is best for their needs.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo, amigos! Anyone know the history of this holiday? Long story short, the underdogs WIN, so why not celebrate?! I suffer from terrible technophobia, but have been running this business successfully for three years! Let’s raise a glass to those who don’t give up even when the odds are stacked against us. My glass contains a pineapple-tajín margarita (while I snack on the best salmon tacos) and I want to know: A) What are you drinking; and B) What long-shot victory are you toasting to today?
