Hello to our beautiful community! Can you be-LEAF it’s almost Fall?! 🍂
One question I get asked regularly is about yard waste pick up. Each town has its own rules, and some of the rules/limits change by season.
Here are some of the rules by town with links for more info:
🍂 Huntersville:
• Offers bulk pick up for a fee (see website to request)
• A maximum of 5 bags of leaves will be collected weekly during regular months.
• A maximum of 10 bags of leaves will be collected weekly from October 15 to January 15.
• Each bag placed out for collection cannot exceed 75 pounds.
• Leaves will only be collected when placed inside brown recyclable bags. Leaves placed in any other type of container will not be collected.
• Residents may also take yard waste to a Mecklenburg County Drop-Off Disposal and Recycling Center (a fee may apply).
• Branches/Limbs
↳ Any items that do not fit inside your cart will not be picked up during your routine weekly collection - your options are:
↳ Take items to a Mecklenburg County Drop-Off Disposal and Recycling Center (a fee may apply).
↳ Request Brush Pick Up service from Public Works (a disposal fee applies).
↳ Call or text me 🙂 and I can help you out!

🍂 Cornelius:
• Clear plastic bags can be tied and any other style of bag that is not clear must be left open. Bags over 50 pounds will be left on the curbside.
• Waste Pro will collect up to 20 bags of leaves per week. The Town provides curbside leaf vacuuming from November 1st through the end of January. Schedule and routes vary due to weather and leaf volume. (See website for more info!)
• Manageable piles of limbs or brush will be collected. This doesn't include Pampas Grass-type material as this material must be bagged for retrieval. Tree limbs will be collected only if they meet the following specifications:
↳ No larger than five inches in diameter.
↳ No longer than four feet in length.
↳ Stacked in piles that do not exceed four feet high x four feet long x four feet wide.
↳ Two feet between each pile.
