A big thank you to everyone who pitched in and donated to support me on my first fundraiser for prostate cancer and men's mental health support via the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride this past Sunday. Here's the results of all the good work and participation around the world! Thanks for being a part of it!

Next month I'll be doing another fundraiser for The Alzheimer's Association, their 100 mile motorcycle challenge. I of course will be doing 1,000 miles. This is a cause near and dear to me as my mother suffered from this horrible illness. Stay tuned for future announcements.

FB Friends, I'll be participating in The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride for 2025 happening world wide this Sunday. The event raises money for Men's Mental Health. The Miller Beach Cute Cabin Project is under way in Indiana. Road extension cleared; excavation, footings, foundation walls and insulation in place. Underground utilities and framing next.

Down the road the Indiana Dunes Net Zero Passive House is now occupied by it's owner and the reports are that the home is incredibly comfortable and very connected to nature when inside.

As you know we traveled Japan this summer. When I brought back my motorcycle rental to Kyoto Bike Travel, they asked if they could interview me, as to what my experience was like as a foreigner renting a motorcycle in Japan and why I chose their service. It was an audio interview. I felt it really didn't give a full story without images, so I took the interview and made a video interview out of it. Here's the final resulting promo piece. You'll get a nice story of my experience renting a bike and having an adventure for a week in Japan. Incredible Journey! Enjoy!

I'm updating my passivehousemidwest.com website and adding some of the videos from our Lakeside Net Zero Passive House project. This one is really interesting. Both myself and Paul Abueva the builder were asked to present our project at the Michigan Net Zero Energy Conference which was online. You get a great step by step walk-through of the design process followed up by some great technical construction detailing photos and videos from Paul which captures the nuances of building with passive house techniques. Great news today! Our Lakeside Net Zero Passive House project made the podium as one of the Outstanding Single Family homes to win the national 2024 LEED Homes Award! Thank you all who took the time to vote. Thank you to the project team and especially the home owner who allowed us to manifest her environmental stewardship values into her home.

Nice to see a big write up on our Lakeside Net Zero Passive House project today on the Green Homes Institute's Newsletter. We've been members for a long time, and supporters of PHIUS for over a decade.

The goal of these Institutes is to bring high performance design to the mass market, with the intention of removing the building sector from the list of industries that are contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and thus excelerating climate change.

We are proud to announce that we know how to design buildings that produce no harmful pollution on it's site in it's daily operation AND are completely powered by the clean power of the abundant sun. I remember as a kid looking at a new solar powered calculator and thinking, "Yes, this is the model all built items must strive to get to, simply powered by the clean energy of the sun". What a game changer this will be....and now we know how to do that with architecture!

With lake views to the north and solar gain to the south, this wooded site was challenging to optimize window orientation and solar panels to these conflicting orientations. Yet, the design solution achieved stunning lake views from the primary “day spaces” as well as the master bedroom. Excelle...
