Best advice is May 1st, but preferably Mother's day. We always are ready in April but not a great idea!

A cold snap! Here is a quick note from our horticulture team explaining how to best take care of the outdoor plants you've just purchased: With the fluctuating weather we are having this week, we want to keep you informed about your plants and the care they need during these temperature changes. Here is some helpful information to make sure your plants stay healthy and beautiful this season. It is crucial for many of your plants to have protection when the temperatures drop below freezing (32F). If you have plants that have been planted in the ground, they should be just fine because the soil temperature is currently 52F. The ambient ground temperature will protect plants that are already in the ground. For your plants that are in pots or containers, they are at risk of cold damage since they are above the warm ground. The easiest solution to keep them safe is to move them inside a garage or the house just overnight when the temperatures drop. Chalet takes pride in selling plants to our customers that ensure the utmost success. We intentionally wait to sell the "tender" plants until the danger of cold or frost has passed. If we do bring in plants like tomatoes, earlier than they should be planted, we label them with alerting customers to be cautious and to be prepared to protect them until after the frost-free date, May 15.

Enjoy!
