A staircase is more than a way to move between floors. It's one of the few features in a home that's seen, touched, and used every single day.

At Washington Blvd., this is one of the moments when we can still see and correct the details that will shape everything that follows.

Before the walls close, we're checking openings, transitions, alignment, and coordination. Because right now, those details are still visible and still fixable.

Soon, almost everything you see here will disappear behind drywall, millwork, tile, and finishes.

But the decisions made here won't.

For us, quality control isn't something that happens at the end of a project. It happens all the way through it.

Not every great home has to begin with a blank slate.

For this Lake Forest project, Sebastian saw potential in the existing residence and chose to transform it rather than start over.

What followed was a full remodel and first-floor addition that substantially expanded and reimagined the home while preserving portions of the original structure.

The work extended throughout the residence, including the kitchen, bathrooms, living spaces, bedrooms, mudroom, and lower level. The completed home features vaulted and elevated ceilings, oversized windows, White Oak cabinetry and finishes, custom millwork, and a redesigned kitchen and primary suite.

This project is a reminder that transformation doesn't always mean replacing what was there. Sometimes it means understanding what is worth preserving, what needs to change, and how the two can work together.
