Last Tuesday, Toro Construction welcomed three students from Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT) for our Shadow Day program. 👷‍♀️🔨

The students came ready to learn and get hands-on experience as they toured our single-family homes and got a firsthand look at what a day in the life of a General Contractor and Carpenter looks like.

From the morning toolbox talk and project walkthrough to working alongside our carpentry team, they experienced the skills, responsibilities, and teamwork that go into bringing a project to life.

We’re proud to continue creating opportunities for the next generation of women entering the trades and giving students the chance to experience construction firsthand.

Our team continues to make significant progress on the Bally's Chicago Casino project, the largest self-performing contract in our company's history. This milestone project showcases the strength and capabilities of our self-perform division as work continues to advance on site.

Our self-perform team is currently 40% complete with the interior framing, drywall & taping, and rough carpentry scope. Building on that momentum, Toro has also been awarded an additional package for the project's acoustical ceilings, expanding our role on one of Chicago's most anticipated developments.

As this landmark project continues to take shape, Toro remains committed to delivering the quality craftsmanship and reliable ex*****on that have become the foundation of our self-performing operations.

🏗️ 2309 Place Continues to Progress Toward Completion 🚧

Our Toro Construction team continues to make significant progress at 2309 Place as this commercial development moves through key phases of construction.

Current project milestones include:
• Interior framing is now 90% complete
• Structural steel installation has been completed
• New interior concrete work is complete
• Site utility installation is underway
• Plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC systems are progressing
• Fire-rated walls have been pre-rocked and fire-taped, preparing the space for upcoming interior finishes

Looking ahead, the next phase of work will include:
• Electrical installation
• Kitchen hood installation
• Water tap connection
• Drywall installation

As construction advances, each completed phase brings 2309 Place closer to becoming a fully functional commercial space. Our team continues coordinating with trade partners and project stakeholders to ensure quality workmanship, efficient progress, and a successful project delivery.

Additional project milestones are on the horizon, and we look forward to sharing more updates as 2309 Place continues moving toward completion.

Project progress continues on the Reclaiming Chicago development in Roseland. 🏗️🏡

Our team has reached another major milestone with all interior work now complete across the development. Recent progress includes:
✔️ Interior finishes completed in all homes
✔️ Plumbing work completed with inspections passed in all homes
✔️ Electrical work completed with all fixtures installed in all homes
✔️ Interior doors and finish trim completed throughout all homes

With interior and exterior finishes nearing completion, our team is focused on the remaining closeout activities:
☐ Final interior cleaning
☐ Final paint touch-ups
☐ Exterior masonry completion
☐ Exterior flatwork (concrete)
☐ Fencing installation
☐ Final landscaping
☐ Punchlist completion and final turnover

Another major step forward in West Englewood! The foundation phase is taking shape as our team continues building the groundwork for what’s next.

Completed milestones:

✔️ Property footings poured
✔️ Sewer & sanitation lines installed from building to street
✔️ Foundation wall forms and rebar completed

Building spaces that support the future of healthcare. 🏗️

Toro Construction is currently serving as General Contractor on the renovation of three nursing program classrooms at Instituto del Progreso Latino, with work actively underway in an occupied, operating building.

Ongoing scope includes selective demolition and reconfiguration of the space to create a new office area with a newly installed window wall. Crews are currently completing drywall, millwork installation, carpet removal, new epoxy flooring, fresh paint, and ongoing MEP and infrastructure upgrades.

We’re proud to be transforming these spaces in real time into modern learning environments that support education, workforce development, and opportunity in our communities.

🏢 Xquina Incubator and Café Construction Update ✨

Great progress continues at Xquina as the project takes shape. The exterior framing for the incubator and café space is now complete, stair 1 framing at the first floor is ready, and the incubator space now has its subfloor installed.

Work is also moving forward on the new ramp and north end flooring, while the water service upgrade has officially begun ahead of schedule. At Casa Huitzil, selective drywall installation and new kitchen hoods are bringing the space closer to completion.

Each milestone brings us one step closer to creating a space that supports local entrepreneurs, fosters connection, and serves the community.
