Uranian Threads

Uranian Threads A voyage of discovery through knitting and sewing; boldly going where few men have gone before.

My sewing and knitting projects reflect a drive to innovate, a passion for perfection and a gift for mathematics. The focus is on excellence, often incorporating complex techniques such as advanced forms of double knitting and a bold use of color. Sometimes the projects are prosaic, other times they are extraordinary - ranging from a University of Illinois shirt pieced from multiple fabrics suitable for a homecoming game to an op art scarf of Escher-like illusions.

48 hours ago I was wondering if this shirt was salvageable. I was crafting a new pattern from the pieces of other, when I realized I’d made a mistake and wouldn’t be able to finish the shirt in time for an international astrology conference starting this week here in Chicago.

I had to rip out the old collar and remake the pattern for a new collar. It’s come together faster and better than I had hoped.

All that’s left are buttons and hems.

Lookout UAC! Here I come.

The last picture is of the embroidery with my personal logo.

Just finished this shirt. I love how it turned out. Used fabric purchased when visiting New Zealand and vintage buttons from my stash. Matched the pattern on the front - including the pocket. Hoping to get one more shirt done this month to wear to an international conference that’s coming to Chicago in September.

I recently saw my first robin of the season and this my first dinosaur Valentine inflatable. What’s next?

My bingo card didn’t have a completely new accessorized dinosaur.
