Now that the backer board is done, we can start installing the tile! We start in one corner and work our way around the room, making sure to put spacers around each individual tile. These spacers make sure that we have even grout lines throughout, but also keeps the tiles at the same height, so there’s no uneven surfaces.

This project is a kitchen (and laundry room) remodel that started with reinforcing and replacing some of the structural elements in the floor. We installed the new subfloor and backer board to prep the space for the new tile floor throughout. The backer board is important because (unlike the wood subfloor) it provides a more solid and moisture resistant foundation to prevent shifting and cracking later down the road.

Here’s the finished deck! You can see that there’s a new staircase connecting the upper and lower deck, and we also expanded the upper deck past the bay window to give them more space for seating! The new composite decking and vinyl railings are both weather resistant and will last a long time!!

Here’s the new shower! The grey marbled walls give the room a fresh, modern, and luxury look, and replacing the flooring helped freshen up the space too! This customer wanted us to put a ceiling panel in their shower, which isn’t something we get asked for very often. It can help the shower look even taller and highlight the luxury look and feel, but it can be expensive having to purchase another full-size wall and cut it down to size. At the end of the day, the customer was super happy with how it turned out, and that’s our goal for every project!
