Busy time on the plant farm! A few pics from this weekend. My utility/work area is coming together and it’s starting to feel like a nursery. I made room in the nursery and landscape beds for trial plants, and the rest I’m potting up into bigger containers for sale. Everything is growing so fast! At this rate I might need to hire help for potting up plants. I’m only half kidding, or less than half. 😆 Comment if you’re interested now(ish) or in the future.

The bees look healthy and good! They also look a bit hungry.This is the first year and they still have to build wax in the entire top box, so I’m feeding them sugar syrup to give them a boost. It’s sort of a lean time of year for nectar, as the spring flowers have faded and the big push of summer flowers are just starting up.

I don’t always like when caterpillars eat my plants, but I can’t be mad when it’s a monarch on a milkweed! I’ve got several trays of milkweeds growing well that will be ready in the fall.

Rye seed heads are so handsome. 😍 I sowed 2 of my big beds with winter rye as a cover crop. I cut it back once already and will cut again. It will die back after that, and I can leave it in place as mulch or I can till it in to add organic matter and boost microbial life in the soil.
