We are excited to be a big part of this project!
🚧 Road work alert! 🚧
Route 117 in Jericho has experienced embankment erosion and a construction project is underway to help alleviate that risk. Over time, Mill Brook near its confluence with the Winooski River, has moved toward the highway threatening safety and floodplain health during floods and high-water events.
VLT and Vermont Agency of Transportation are partnering on an innovative solution.
We’re helping build an engineered log jam to slow floodwater, catch sediment, and stabilize the roadway embankment to avoid future risk of erosion. This solution works with the river. It’s one of the first projects in Vermont to use this approach along a major roadway.
If you regularly drive on Route 117, you’ll see construction happening over the next few weeks. Follow along with us as the project takes shape.
